The development

Globe House is a nine-storey former government office building on the corner of Bridge Place and Belgrave Road, a short walk from Victoria station. It is being converted into a hotel with active ground-floor uses.

S&M is responsible for the electrical package described here, not the wider development.

Coordination

The temporary supplies were needed while the building was still being surveyed, so each had a defined source, route, isolation point and handover. Lift isolations were agreed with the lift contractor and held under lock-off for the survey.

For the main package we returned a fully quantified schedule of rates against the Stage 4 specification and listed document conflicts for the design team to resolve before pricing was fixed.

Our scope

  1. 01Temporary three-phase 63A supply to the roof building maintenance unit: a new way in the machine-room services board, cabling on existing containment and external brickwork, and an IP-rated roof outlet with metering and isolation.
  2. 02Isolation and lock-off of the lift supplies to allow a lift survey.
  3. 03Activity-specific RAMS, circuit identification and a plain-English installation report.
  4. 04Main electrical package to circulation areas and guest rooms, starting October 2026.
